The Father's Day Special 2K20
Years ago.
Sunlight creeks from above, slipping down into the dense forest and creating a peaceful atmosphere. All the forenoon sounds encompass the air.
Sitting on a tree stump is Tamara Tybalt, an acoustic guitar in her hand. eyes closed, she strums along a resplendent song, complementing it with her own vocals.
🎵How many special people change?🎵
🎵How many lives are living strange?🎵
🎵Where were you while we were getting high?🎵
"You've gotten so good with that thing."
Another voice interrupted the impromptu session, causing Tammy to lift her head up. her eyes opened as they locked eyes with Thomas Tybalt Sr. Her father. he wore a black leather jacket, with a shirt underneath that read "I lost my shoe." His shades obscured his eyes, but Tammy could tell he was staring right back
"Better than you anyway." Tammy quipped back, standing upright as her father approached her
"I'm just gonna ignore that. Hey kiddo, you wanna race?" his hands in his pockets, Thomas removed his bifocals, smirking
"You sure you can keep up, old man?" Tammy jocosely slapped her father on the shoulder, walking forward.
"alright, hold on. I've been running since BEFORE you were a fetus. Before you were a CONCEPT."
"Then it's gonna be that much more embarrassing when you're eating my dust."
"You'll be eating humble pie when I'm done with you, Fleet Feet."
"Damn, papa. Your comebacks are getting as grey as your facial hair."
Tamara pauses.
"Then again, I was always better than you at that too."
Thomas gritted his teeth, watching as his daughter got into her pre-run position.
"I'll give you a head start. You're gonna need it" Thomas stationed himself slightly behind her. "It's not too late to back out and spare us all the bitching and moaning when you're face-first in the dirt."
"Not a chance, gransvestite."
"What did you just-"
BOOM! Tamara was gone, breaking the speed of sound with little effort! Thomas dashed off at superspeed, running after his daughter. The two of them dodged trees, slid under branches, blew through bushes as they traversed the dense area. they were going so fast, in fact, that everything in their wake was becoming either fractured or dismantled, including the trees.
"This is too easy," Tamara thought to herself as she forged ahead, only seeing her blur behind her. that would soon change, however, as to her right, her father was catching up.
and then, to her left, her father was catching up, too!
"Two-?!" Tamara's discomfiture only lasted a second. she was flanked from the back by a third vision of her father, falling forward, off a cliff. With a scream, she slammed into the water below, flailing momentarily before bringing herself back up to the surface. she gasped for air, squeezing her nose. she looked around, where her father was on top of the short cliff.
"What the hell was that?!" Tamara barked, swimming over to the shore
"A speed mirage." Thomas talked through his nearly uncontrollable laughter "I'm sorry, you should see the look on your face right now."
"Really, papa?!" She sped over to her father, punching him as hard as she could in the arm "Dick!"
"What can I say? Old man, old tricks. I was running so fast that I appeared to be in three places at once"
"That's technically cheating."
"Nope. It only gives you the ILLUSION that I'm in three places at once."
"I was going pretty fast. Why didn't it work with me?"
"Because, and as fast as you are, you think too small, Frances. you just run in a straight line, you've got no flavour to your speed."
He crouched down, smiling in his daughter's face. his eyes searched hers, seeing the fire inside of them. He chortled.
"Then teach me, papa."
"Teach you what?"
"All your tricks."
"Oh... I dunno... do you really wanna learn from an old man?"
"Shut up."
They laughed in sync, Thomas walking backwards, towards the water.
"Welcome to class. This is Advanced Speed Physics, and today I'm going to teach you GO FAST."
"Oh, brother..." Tamara groaned "Go fast."
"Today's lesson will be on speed mirages. See, my daughter isn't as skilled as me when it comes to the ART of spee-"
Tamara threw a ball of sand in her father's face.
"You're insufferable." she sighed, coming over to her father, her arms wrapping around his waist "I love you, papa."
"I love you too, Fleet Feet."
"And one day I'm gonna have you choking on my dust."
"Alright, class is in session. Watch and learn, crumb-snatcher."
"What did you just-"
BOOM! Thomas was gone, already across the river in less than a second! smirking, Tamara raced after him, kicking up sand in her wake.
I like it; it kind of gives me vibes of Sonic and Flash mixed in a neat way
