Introduction

"The television broadcast shows with extraordinary, fantastic adventures. Father falsely assumed I could relate to some of the programs. But those people… they had their powers all figured out. They knew exactly what to do in any given circumstance. It only angered me. Why couldn’t things in my own life be such a cinch?"

Raising a kid like Rush would've been difficult for anyone. He was born with unforeseen gifts, unlimited potential within. When his mother was alive, things were somewhat easier. She herself had a similar set of abilities as he did. But, when she died, Rush's father found it difficult keeping his son's sometimes uncontrollable abilities under lock and key.

"I was exactly where you are now. My mom had just died. My best friend, gone, like that. I’m sure you’ve gotten a talk from all of your dad’s friends. The merry band of costumed crusaders he chose to hang with. So did I. And they all accept it, at first. Everybody accepts it. the silence, the desire to be alone, the intolerance. It’s the realistic reaction. For awhile."

"Then they expect you to do something unrealistic: move on."

"I’ve never gotten over it. And if I’m being honest, I never will get over it."

In his roller-coaster ride of a childhood, reading was Rush's escape.

The books let him know every minute detail. 

He studied languages such as Latin, he studied history, but he mostly read the fantastical adventures of his favorite fictional heroes. Their triumphs and tribulations. He got to know how they felt, in the moment. He could relate to them on a level those around him possibly couldn't.

Like his father, he eventually joined the Meta-Affairs Bureau (M.A.B), a government agency that deals with special cases of Meta-Humans and Nivians that regular law enforcement lacks the tools to deal with. Rush became a skilled detective in little time, earning high honors while still being early into his career. Thanks in part to his persistence on any case he tackles. He even doesn't mind roughing someone up to get any information relevant to the case. 

Stance on the war

Rush is on the side of neither Humans or Nivians. He takes a neutral stance, showing no bias against the horrors of both sides. He acts based on what he feels is right and wrong. He hopes for there to be peace and unity one day, but he's not holding his breath for it. In a world of so much ugliness, Rush's goal remains consistent: the truth.
